After a man wins a sword fighting contest, he is named the chief escort of the Imperial Governor. A man named Thunder Sword shows up and kills the new chief escort. After finding a necklace left by the man he killed, Thunder Sword now says that he didn't come for the high ranking but rather to see how good this swordsman was. The son and daughter of the man who was killed are young but start planning revenge early. It doesn't take long before they are grown up and the son goes around challenging everyone he thinks may have killed his dad. When he brings his sword to have it refined so he can murder some more, the blacksmith won't help the young man unless he lets the blacksmith cure his mental illness. After completing the training with the blacksmith, the young man goes to stay at an inn while his sword is being fixed. At the inn he comes across his sister who he hasn't seen since he was a child and she is just as tough as him! As soon as the son finally finds Thunder Sword, I already knew his identity, but it is still an AMAZING end to the movie. This is a must see for old swordplay fans.

The action is absolutely top notch. I honestly can't think of a movie from 1969 or before that has better swordplay than this. Most of the performers seem to be trained in wushu and every single fight scene is fantastic. I was blown away by how good the action is.

The film print on the Fisian DVD is in bad condition, but it is watchable and only a few of the subtitles are hard to read.
